Emotions are as much a part of being human as breathing. With breathing, for every inspiration there is an expiration. A certain flow must be maintained to promote health and well-being.
The same is true of emotions. They should flow like the tears and laughter of a young child. The problem is that sometimes our emotions do not flow, but rather get stuck in our bodies. When this happens, we often experience pain and dysfunction.
Just as chronic patterns of negative emotion can be programmed into our bodies, they can also be programmed out. This is what Neuro-Emotional Technique (NET), developed by Dr. Scott Walker, proposes to do. Through the use of simple muscle response testing and gentle adjustments to the spine, disturbances in the energetics of the body can be corrected.
For some people, the notion that emotions can get stuck in our bodies is a new, and maybe challenging, idea. There is, however, substantial clinical and experimental evidence to support that this is exactly what happens. Oriental medicine has recognized the relationship of emotions to disease or health for the last four thousand years. A modern experimental scientist by the name of Candice Pert has recently developed a compelling biochemical model for this idea.
I began my training in NET with Dr. Walker in 1995. Since then, there have been numerous instances in my practice where using NET has made a major difference in the outcome of the patient’s chiropractic care.
